Field Trips
This month, a few of our classes will be taking field trips.
Thursday, January 15th, Ms. Gjefle will be taking her Community Health Science class from the high school to the Real Bodies Exhibit in Las Vegas. There they will see real human species, including organs and full bodies, focusing on the story of life.
On Wednesday, January 28th, Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. Thormahlen will be taking their K-2 students to the Smith Center. There, they will enjoy a performance of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom; a musical about the alphabet trying to climb a coconut tree.
Thank Yous!
Beatty Schools would like to thank Smokin’ J’s Barbecue for donating food to the Staff Christmas Party. It was delicious as always! We would also like to thank AngloGold Ashanti for all the gifts they donated for staff games at the Christmas Party. Last but not least, BEMS staff would like to thank Lacey Cordova for the treats she dropped off. They were seasonally delicious!
NCSD Chess Battle
Wednesday, January 14th, several Beatty students will be traveling to Pahrump to compete in the NCSD Chess Battle. Students from several schools will be competing against one another by putting their chess skills to the test
Family Engagement
Digital Report Cards are scheduled to be available on Monday, January 12th. Every parent/guardian on file can use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Every parent/guardian gets an account when they enroll their child. If you are not sure what your username and/or password are, reach out to your school secretary.
You can also use the parent portal to stay up to date on your student’s grades throughout the year.
Staff Spotlight
would like to take this moment to put a spotlight on all of the staff from Beatty Schools. We have been able to celebrate many successes, knowing we still have a ways to go. Behind every success story in our schools is a teacher who stayed late, a custodian who ensured a clean and safe environment, and a support staff member who offered a kind word.
Most only get to see the outside, the high test score, the growth, or the struggle, but I get to see the work that seems to go unnoticed. I see the collaborative planning in the morning and after school, I see the extra emotional support given when a student shows up to school upset, I see the staff rally together to overcome a challenge.
Many staff work beyond their job description because they care about our kids and they care about our communities.. To our staff: You are the silent engine of this school; we may not always hear the work, but we certainly feel the momentum you create. Thank you!!!
Mr. Sullivan

Fan Support - This month is going to be busy for our MS and HS student-athletes, and they need your support. We hope to see all of Hornet Nation cheering them on.
Ways to show your support:
Attend home games: If you can’t make an away event, please join us on our home court.
Don’t Miss the Beatty Bash! Our HS basketball teams are hosting their 2nd Annual Beatty Bash. Come out for great action!

Family Engagement
With the weather getting colder and no school for 2 weeks, it’s a good time to stay warm and enjoy some relaxation. It’s also a good time to warm up under a blanket and read a good book. Having your student read or reading with your student just 20 minutes a day at home exposes them to an extra 1.8 million words a year, significantly boosting their vocabulary, communication, & critical thinking skills. It also lowers tress, and improves performance in all subject areas., but more importantly, It’s also good family bonding time. We hope you enjoy the holidays!
